For Immediate Release
December 3, 2015
Redding, CA – BloodSource and Blood Centers of the Pacific (BCP) which operates locally as Shasta Blood Center, announced today that they are merging together to form one Redding-based facility to better serve hospitals, donors and the community. With the merger, BloodSource will be part of Blood Systems, a Scottsdale-based leader in transfusion medicine services which operates blood centers that serve more than 700 hospitals in 24 states. BCP which operates donor centers in the Bay Area in addition to Shasta Blood Center has been an affiliate of Blood Systems for over 15 years. The transaction is targeted to close by year end.
As hospitals form regional, state and national systems, they often seek one blood service provider to serve their members. As one organization, BloodSource and Shasta Blood Center can combine their resources, expertise and commitment to quality to better serve donors and patients.
In a joint statement, BloodSource Regional Director Joe Ayer and Collection Manager Denise Caldwell from Shasta Blood Center said “Our mission and commitment to both donor and patient care are parallel. We look forward to combining our teams to provide exceptional service to our donors, volunteers and hospital patients.”
BloodSource and Shasta Blood Center have been neighbors and colleagues in Redding for more than 20 years and have much in common including a history of excellence, shared missions and compatible cultures. In the coming months Shasta Blood Center and BloodSource will combine their Redding operations and fully integrate into one regional facility to provide donors with increased donation opportunities and to better serve the north state.
